               Heart to Art ~ 900 Pleasant Avenue N ~ Champlin, MN  55316

Hello and Welcome to Heart to Art

My name is Laura J. Krug and I am the owner of Heart to Art. As far back as I can remember, even as a child, I loved to create, draw, and have always been a romantic at heart.  My life has focused on creating both art and an environment of warmth and love to surround my family.

My paintings reflect those heartfelt feelings along with my faith which flow into Contemporary and Contemporary Christian Paintings. Love of this art style has merged with my second love which is jewelry making.  At home in my studio, my jewelry design expressions are created by combining natural elements with quality materials; including Pearls, Swarovski Crystals, Semiprecious stones, and 14K Gold filled wire.  A final outlet for my creativity is photography. Capturing our beautiful world by selecting some of the simplest elements has allowed me share this wonder with others and to attain a few ribbons and awards along the way.

My skills are innate and self expressed with only a few art courses and classes in my resume.  I do however hold a MA Ed with emphasis in drafting and design. I have focused my energy for the last 16+ years on formally home schooling my children.

My philosophy is that each of us is blessed by God with unique gifts. These are the things that our hearts just cry out to do; whether it be to sing, play music, dance, grow flowers, study science, or any other talent.  What we choose to do with these gifts is then our gift back to God.  I hope that my art touches you in a special way and brings you closer to God as you appreciate the splendor of His world around you.

History of Heart to Art                                              Heart to Art began as a dream at the computer in our basement many years ago. At the time I was home schooling our young children and was just beginning to find time to draw again after nearly a 25 year hiatus.  My sister-in-law, Kathleen, was visiting and said she would gladly help me set up a web site.  Now the story begins to get interesting.

Kathleen asked what the name of my site should be and without much prior thought or hesitation, I simply said, Heart to Art.  We immediately did a search for hearttoart.com.  This address was taken by a fly fishing company, so she suggested the next best bet was hearttoart.net.  With her generous help, we set up www.heartotart.net for one year.

That following year was a difficult exploratory period of our faith as my family left the church denomination with which my husband and I had both been raised in; with hopes of finding a new denomination with closer biblical teachings. We struggled to find a home Church, exploring and learning of each ones uniqueness. Registration of my site became due after a year and I again searched out hearttoart.com to see if it was available.  This time it was owned by a Missouri Synod Lutheran Pastor.  He had a wonderful website where he would answer questions from website visitors.  He was of immeasurable help to me and my family as he gave us guidance on what to look for when we visited churches.

The results were two fold; I registered hearttoart.net for tens years and found a home church to which we have now belonged for as many years.  I truly believe God has a special plan for each of us and watches over us; when He whispered those words  - hearttoart - into my heart, He knew the path it was leading me, even when I had no idea.  Listen quietly and He will speak to your soul and guide you.  I hope that my website does honor to His trust in my abilities and I in Him by declaring He is my God; Christ is my Savior.

I especially want to thank my family for all of their support and encouragement over the years.   My husband, the inspiration behind many of my paintings, was my biggest fan and cheering section.  He put his words into action by giving of his time, treasure, and talent as he helped me create and change a room in our home into an Art haven/Studio where I can follow my heart.

My three sons also encouraged me over the years to create;  from elaborate Halloween costumes to unique birthday cakes, to room decor. Thanks guys, you kept my artistic ability going, were truly an inspiration, and brought me days of fabulous fun. Thanks to my parents for supporting my drawing from an early age with art supplies on hand, my first oil paints, and my first easel which I still have today; they also put up with years of messes along the way.  A special thank you to Kathleen for her time and patience in helping me set up my very first website and to Ashley Croteau and Sarah Pontius for editing. Praise be to God for the gift He has instilled in my heart.

Only through this combination of love and support does this web site exist!
